Raleigh Sprinklers & Irrigation — sprinkler repair, French drains and backflows across Wake County.

Heads that miss, zones that will not start, corners that stay wet, and a backflow test the city keeps asking for. We trace the cause first, price the real repair, and nothing gets dug or replaced until you have said yes.

Why people call

You are probably looking at one of these

Nobody wakes up wanting to talk about irrigation. Something in the yard is wrong, and it has usually been wrong a while before anyone picks up the phone.

  • A stripe of brown that will not recover. You water more and it stays brown, while the grass either side of it turns soggy. That is rarely a thirsty lawn. It is a head throwing short, a nozzle worn off its pattern, or a zone that has lost pressure — and watering harder only makes the wet half worse.
  • A corner still wet days after the rain. It might be where the ground naturally sits. It might be a split lateral quietly feeding the subsoil. It might be a valve weeping all night. From the surface those three look identical, and they cost very different amounts to put right.
  • A water bill that jumped and stayed up. An underground mainline leak can run for weeks without ever showing a puddle. So can a valve that never quite closes. The bill notices long before the lawn does.
  • A zone that will not start. Usually the solenoid on that valve, a wire splice gone green underground, or a controller old enough to have forgotten its own program. Rarely the whole system, whatever anyone told you.
  • A letter from the city about your backflow. The assembly that keeps irrigation water out of the drinking supply has come due for its test. It is a short visit, but it has to be done and filed by somebody carrying the right certification.

If you recognized yours in that list, what you want next is a diagnosis — not a price quoted down the phone by somebody who has not seen the yard. We find what is actually wrong, tell you what it costs, and you decide.

What we do

What we handle across Raleigh and east Wake

Ten services under one roof. Repairs and installs, plus the drainage side most irrigation outfits hand to somebody else.

Local conditions

Four things worth knowing before you call

  • Raleigh Water & the Neuse. Everything irrigated inside the city answers to Raleigh Water, whose cross-connection rules are tighter than the towns around it because the Neuse watershed sits downstream. We deal with the filing; you never see the form.
  • The July 1 deadline. A lawn system on a residence carries a reduced-pressure assembly, recertified every third year — annually on commercial property — by a tester holding City of Raleigh certification. We run it, swap the unit if it fails, and lodge the result.
  • Red clay behaves differently. Water sits on it rather than entering it, which hides a leak for months and drowns a low corner in an afternoon. We design around it: nozzles matched across a zone, and short run times repeated rather than one long soak.
  • Several vintages of system. A yard inside the Beltline can hold four decades of parts; a Wakefield or Brier Creek install is one builder’s spec on a narrow lot. Which one you have changes the repair.

Who turns up

A small outfit, and the same face twice

Raleigh Sprinklers & Irrigation is owner-led and deliberately small. Whoever works out what is wrong with your system is the same person who comes back to repair it, so nothing falls down the gap that opens between a sales visit and a work order. There is no dispatcher reading from a script, and nobody else’s van turning up for the wet-yard half of the job.

Twenty years between us, spent in this county rather than read about somewhere else. We know which streets Inside the Beltline hide four decades of accumulated parts under the willow oaks, which North Raleigh subdivisions are reaching the end of their systems’ lives all at once because they went in the same decade, and which Brier Creek lots send a whole storm down the gap between two houses. Licensed and insured in North Carolina, with a full year on our labor and a figure agreed before anyone opens the ground. More about how we work.

How it goes

From your call to a working system

  • Tell us what the yard is doing. Call, text, or send the form. A photo of the problem area says more than a paragraph can. You will hear back the same working day.
  • We run the system before we price it. Every zone, watching coverage, pressure, and where the water is actually landing. Most faults announce themselves inside ten minutes to somebody who has met them before.
  • You get the number before anything starts. Where more than one thing is wrong — and past about fifteen years of age it usually is — the items come to you separated out, so you can put right what matters now and leave the rest until later in the year.
  • We repair with parts that match. Heads, nozzles and valves chosen to suit what is already in the ground, not whatever happened to be on the van that morning. Where something has been discontinued we fit a current equivalent that drops straight into the old body.
  • We test it with you standing there. Zones run, coverage checked, and twelve months on the labor behind it. If anything we touched misbehaves, we come back.
Through the year

What a Wake County system needs, and when

Spring. A proper start-up is the visit that catches winter damage. Pressure comes up gradually, every zone runs, and whatever the freeze split shows itself in April instead of in the first hot week of July. It is also the moment to get a backflow test on the calendar if yours is due, because certified testers get scarce as the deadline closes in.

Summer. This is when coverage faults show hardest. The head that was merely a little short in May leaves a scorched arc across the lawn by August, and the same fault that was invisible in spring becomes the thing you look at every evening. It is also the stretch of the year when a smart controller repays what it cost, skipping a cycle after a storm instead of watering a yard that already took two inches overnight.

Fall. The best season of the year for drainage work. The ground is workable, the lawn has time to knit back together before winter, and you can still see for yourself where the water went during the summer storms — which is worth more than any amount of guessing in March.

Winter. Getting the water out with a compressed-air blow-out ahead of the season’s first real freeze is the cheapest insurance this system will ever buy. An exposed assembly with water still standing in it is what a Triangle cold snap goes for first, and replacing one costs several times over what draining it would have.

Common questions

Raleigh irrigation FAQ

What does the City require for backflow?

A reduced-pressure assembly on any lawn system, recertified every third year for a residence and every year for a commercial property, by a tester holding City of Raleigh certification. We run the test, handle a repair or replacement if it does not pass, and lodge the result so nothing sits open against your account.

Is drainage really the same trade as irrigation?

Yes, and on this clay it matters. A wet corner might be a zone running too long, a split lateral, or ground that simply will not take the water. One visit settles which, rather than two trades disagreeing about it.

Where do you actually cover?

Raleigh itself, out through Wake Forest, Rolesville and Knightdale, and west to Chapel Hill.

How soon can someone be here?

Same working day for most calls. Anything actively losing water — a split mainline, a zone that will not shut off — jumps the queue.

Licensed? Insured?

Licensed and insured in NC, backflow lodged with the City to code, and twelve months on our labor.
